Luang Phor Krai of Wat Lamphaya, Yala and Luang Phor Thuad Sammirammo are both Sangha brothers and they shared the same teacher located at Wat Pako, Songkhla. When Luang Phor Thuad went  to Ayutthaya to further his studies in Buddhism and Pali, Luang Phor Krai went to Yala further his development in meditation where he attained a very high state (Abinnya - Supernatural Powers) of spiritual development.  That's is when he started to use his psychic powers to help the people, the villagers and the farmers. Later, Luang Phor Krai went to the dense forests and the hills to subdued the wild and fierce beasts such as tigers, snakes, wild boars, etc.  One of the main reasons, you will see Luang Phor Krai sitted with a tiger and two cobras. The villagers were able to live safely without being harmed by the wild beasts whilst Luang Phor Krai was there. In memory and in gratitude of this Great Spiritual Master (Luang Phor Krai), the villagers built a temple to honour him, this is the creation and development of Wat Lam Phaya located in Yala.

There was alot of miraculous stories of Luang Phor Krai where they created such faiths in the hearts of the villagers for the last few centuries. Legend has it that when Luang Phor Krai was alive, his hairs was able to turn into copper by itself, and when he wanted to shaved his hairs,  a ritual must be performed first before they can proceed.

On 5th June, BE 2505 (CE 1962), Luang Phor Krai's ashes was invoked and invited to be place in Wat Lam Phya. When digging the burial ground, it was found that when the urn was tapped the ashes within will produce a loud metallic sound. Whereas the wood and plants in the vicinity within a radius of 20 metres from the burial ground produced a fragrance as well as miraculous healing properties. It had the efficacy to heal the illness and disease of the faithful devotees. When the ashes of Luang Phor Krai had already been invited to reside within the images. At that time Ajahn Tim of Wat Chianghai attended the ceremony, he remarked that the "image" were exactly what he saw in his meditation. The amulets of Luang Phor Krai were consecrated and produced in the year BE 2505 (CE 1962) with sedges, containing altogether 3 Phims (Moulds) which were Small, Medium and Big.

Luang Phor Kasem was born on November 28, 2455 in a family of descendants of the
Lampang King from the Lanna Period. He became a samanera (novice monk) in the year BE2468 after the death of his uncle, then the abbot of Wat Bunyuen. In BE2470, he went to Bangkok at Wat Setuwan to study the Pali Cannon and after a few years, he returned back to the North to continue his Dhamma studies at Wat Seelom and Wat Bunyawaht. After passing his exams in Pali in the year BE476, he was ordained as a full fledged monk (bhikkhu) at the age of 21. His preceptor was Tan Chao Khun Dhammajindah.

When the abbot of Wat Nunyeun (Phra Dtomkum) left his post as the abbot and the temple was without an abbot, the villagers then approached young Luang Phor kasem (at that time he was in the forests, practicing deep meditation) to return to Lampang and take the position of the new  abbot.

Luang Phor Kasem continued in his learning dhamma and the practice of meditation even when he was the abbot. The more he trained and practiced, the more he realized how uncertain life is. However, his studies as an abbot kept him busy the way, this was an obstacle for him  as his intention was to develop his meditation and spiritual developments. Therefore, in BE2492, he left the Wat (Temple) and settled at Susahn Sahlahwangthan which is a cemetery surrounded in the midst of the jungles at Lampang suburbs. (That area was different  from the now developed site, as we can see nowadays). Many villagers were scared to go near the cemetery and the surrounding areas as it was believed to be haunted. LP Kasem was very determined and kept practicing the meditation until he got to the highest stage. He would sit in front of the cemetery and watch the burning corpses. Whether it's unbearable heat or the down pour of the heavy rains. He would still continue to watch the dead corpses being burned to ashes. (Asubha Meditation)

Luang Phor Kasem (in his 40s) in deep meditation at the cemetery

Luang Phor Kasem would sit in deep meditation for as long as 3 months without any shelter under the intense heat of the sun or the thunderstorms .of the rains. Even though his robes were soaked during the down pour or during the cold seasons (November to February), temperatures in Northern Thailand can dropped below 10 Celcius . Luang Phor Kasem would sit quietly without any complaints . At times, he will abstain from eating for  as long as 49 days. Since BE2514, he only bathed once a year but even then there was no foul smell coming from his body; even when he was sweating under the hot blazing sun.Even without a shelter or mosquito net, he never had mosquito bites!!

During his deep meditation, it was said that he was in touch with his friend (Luang Phor Doo of Wat Saket Ayutthaya).

Luang Phor Kasem, in his meditation (telepathy) was able to communicate with Luang Phor Doo of Wat Saket, Ayutthaya

Luang Phor Kasem always stressed that as a forest monk, he has no need for any property. The only requisites were an alms bowl, his robes and a piece of human bones (used for Asubha Meditation). He did not own any slippers or even a pillow to sleep on. To him, even a pillow was a luxury. He used to sleep on the ground (earth) exactly the same spot where he was meditating. Whatever people gave him, he would then donate them to other monks. He was very determined to find the Truth and to attained Nibbana!!!

He asked for nothing in life. Even though he was a descendant of royal blood of Lampang where if he choose.. the life of luxury could always be his..

Luang Phor Kasem passed away on 15th January BE2539 (7.42 PM) at the Lampang hospital. A memorial and mausoleum were built at the area nearby the cemetery and his dead body was kept in a glass coffin at Wat SusanTriLuck.
